Canadian Surgical AI Wins First Place at the OVHcloud Startup Challenge at VivaTech 2026

Reveal Life Science — a world-renowned molecular cancer detection platform — claims top honors on Europe’s largest tech stage, its sovereign data infrastructure secured by Qohash, a Canadian champion in sensitive data protection at the source.

PARIS — June 17, 2026Reveal Life Science, a Canadian medical technology company whose artificial intelligence platform detects cancers in real time during surgery, won first place in the OVHcloud Startup Challenge at VivaTech 2026, Europe’s largest tech event, held June 17–20 in Paris. This distinction recognizes a fully Canadian innovation, built on a sovereign data infrastructure secured by Qohash, a Canadian cybersecurity champion. It’s worth noting that Reveal is also part of the Global Top 30 Tech for Change 2026.

The win builds on a clinical partnership unveiled on the margins of the G7 Digital Ministerial in Paris, bringing together Reveal Life Science, IRCAD in Strasbourg — a world leader in surgical innovation — and Qohash. It confirms that Canada is not content simply to participate in discussions about AI: it is deploying concrete solutions, in real clinical settings, with world-class partners.

A concrete technology against cancer, 100% Canadian

Reveal reads the molecular signature of tissue in real time. Where a surgeon today must wait days for a lab analysis, the Reveal probe indicates within seconds — during the operation itself — whether a tissue is healthy or cancerous. The principle: Raman spectroscopy — a light fingerprint unique to each tissue — combined with AI models trained on the world’s largest Raman database.

Validated across more than 700 surgeries and 20,000 intraoperative measurements, with 93–97% accuracy on brain tumors (Nature Scientific Reports, 2024) and an FDA Breakthrough Device designation (2021), Reveal’s Sentry platform ranks among the most advanced surgical guidance technologies in the world — alongside Reveal Biofluids (molecular diagnostics from biological fluids) and Reveal Atlas (the sovereign data infrastructure powering the AI, protected by Qohash).

First validated in neurosurgery, the technology is now expanding to other cancers — and into defense and animal health. Its flagship application, co-developed with IRCAD, targets precision breast cancer surgery, where 15 to 40% of patients still require reoperation due to positive margins: a delay and an ordeal that real-time molecular diagnostics aims to eliminate.

Experimental use platform; not cleared for sale. FDA Breakthrough Device designation (2021).

Data sovereignty: a trusted Canadian infrastructure

At the heart of the platform, Reveal Atlas — the world’s largest intraoperative Raman database — captures, structures, and secures a new type of medical data: a real-time intraoperative molecular dataset. This sovereign infrastructure is protected by Qohash, whose technology makes it possible to see, understand, and secure sensitive data directly at the source, without moving it. Each country retains control of its own clinical data — a model of digital sovereignty applied to healthcare, with intellectual property entirely developed and owned in Canada.

A Canadian success story, aligned with the national “AI for All” strategy

The distinction crowns a week of intense Canadian innovation diplomacy in Europe. On June 12, in Paris, Prime Minister Mark Carney renewed and expanded the Canada–France partnership on technology and AI; on June 14, in Ireland, he deepened cooperation on AI and health by explicitly building on “AI for All,” Canada’s national artificial intelligence strategy launched on June 4, 2026.

Reveal Life Science and Qohash concretely embody several of its six pillars: building the foundation of a sovereign Canadian AI (pillar 4), growing Canadian champions on the global stage (pillar 5), and forging trusted international partnerships to bring Canadian AI to global markets (pillar 6). Grounded in intellectual property developed and owned in Canada and applied to healthcare, both companies illustrate precisely the type of innovation Canada is looking to grow and export.

This isn’t just a win for these two companies — it’s a win for all of Quebec. This homegrown innovation will save lives.”

— Ian Lafrenière, Deputy Premier of Quebec

“This first place rewards a vision: a sovereign AI, clinically validated and deployed for the patient. We are not announcing an intention — we are deploying a technology that exists, and that works.”

— Alexandre Triquet, Co-founder and CEO, Reveal Life Science

“In the age of artificial intelligence, control of sensitive data is a strategic advantage. Qohash ensures that the most critical medical data never leaves the control of those who hold it. This is the foundation of trusted AI: sovereign AI, powered by data protected at the source.”

— Jean Le Bouthillier, Founder and CEO, Qohash

“Reveal Life Science and Qohash embody what ‘AI for All’ set out to build: sovereign, trusted AI, developed and owned in Canada, deployed in real clinical settings to save lives. Securing sensitive medical data at the source — so each country keeps control of its own clinical data — is the foundation of AI we can trust. Seeing a fully Canadian innovation take first place on Europe’s largest tech stage is exactly why we brought our champions to Paris.”

— Isabelle Turcotte, Chief of Canada’s delegation to VivaTech 2026, CMO & VP Ecosystem at Scale AI

“At OVHcloud, we believe the next great innovations will emerge from Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through our Startup Program and our long-term presence in Canada, we support tech companies at every stage of their growth by giving them access to high-performance, sovereign, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
